CRC reeds are made exclusively by Bob Morgan. Mr. Morgan has been making his own reeds for more than 30 years.

Chicago audiences know Mr. Morgan as an orchestra musician, chamber player, versatile soloist, and teacher.

He is Assistant Principal Oboe and Solo English Horn of Chicago's Lyric Opera Orchestra. In addition to his duties with Lyric Opera, he is Principal Oboist of Music of the Baroque, Chicago Philharmonic (formerly Symphony II) and Chicago Opera Theatre.

He is a founding member of the Rembrandt Chamber Players, with whom he recorded the critically acclaimed CD 20th Century Baroque (Cedille). The Rembrandt Chamber Players were the featured chamber music ensemble at the first Greenwich-Docklands International Festival in London.

He performed with members of the Guarneri String Quartet in April 1995. He has performed as soloist with Music of the Baroque on many occasions, and has been featured on national broadcasts and at the White House with that ensemble.

As a soloist, Mr. Morgan has debuted a number of new works for oboe, including the Chicago premiere of Joan Tower's "Island Prelude" with the Chicago String Ensemble; the North American premiere of Ilja Hurnick's Concerto for Oboe, Strings and Harpsichord with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra; and the world premiere of Jon Polifrone's "Concerto for Oboe" with the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra. The Polifrone concerto and several other chamber works have been composed for him.

A devoted teacher, Mr. Morgan is a faculty member at Northwestern University, where he coaches chamber music and also teaches privately.

A native of San Francisco, Mr. Morgan studied with Jerry Sirucek at Indiana University, where he was awarded the prestigious Performer's Certificate. He continued his studies with Ray Still, Marc Lifschey, John Mack and Arnold Jacobs. In addition, he has studied the Alexander Technique with John Henes.
